Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination & Triathlon Association Organizing Third Virtual Race
The event is held With Participation of Group of People of Determination Representing Eight Countries

The third virtual race for people of determination, which was held in cooperation among the UAE Triathlon Association, the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination and the management of its sports clubs, witnessed a great excitement. The event is among the initiatives launched towards community service and athletes, during the period of stopping sporting activity as a result of the current situation the world is going through, following the spread of the Coronavirus, and in line with the precautionary measures aimed at preserving the health of all.
The race was held using remote Telepresence technology and a different scoring mechanism was set and the winner of the People of Determination category was announced, for the player who achieved the best level of improvement in the three virtual races that were organized.
The race witnessed the participation of 8 countries, which are «UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Morocco, Tunisia, France, and Germany». The jury followed all the contestants through the live broadcast of each player participating. Like the first and second races, the third race, which lasted for half an hour, witnessed an atmosphere of challenge, in light of the keenness of the participating players to show their abilities and benefit from their international experiences by providing their best. Even if the race was held remotely, the competition continued amid serious competition from all participants. The viewers’ encouragement and motivation gave the champions increased enthusiasm, which increased the distinctiveness of the event, especially that one of the goals of the race is to overcome the negative consequences of stopping activities at the present time.
In terms of results, the Hand Cycling competition resulted in the win of the UAE Rashid Al Dhaheri, the Asian hand-cycling champion in the category of MH4, the second place was won by the UAE Hussain Al Mazem, Gulf champion in the category of MH3, while the third place went to the Moroccan Mohamed Al Kushi, champion of Morocco and Africa, in the category of MH3.
In the arrangements of wheelchairs, Radwan, the champion of Morocco in 1500 and 5000 meters, was crowned the winner, and the Saudi Fahd Al Junaidel, the Asian champion in 100 meters, came in the second place, while the UAE Ahmed Nawad, the world champion of youth in the 100/200/400 meters, came in the third.
The players expressed their happiness and appreciation to the organizing committee of the race, which gave them the opportunity to communicate and meet new players and new sports while maintaining the level of fitness in light of the quarantine implications. They emphasized that their participation in these races gave them the enthusiasm to continue the exercises without interruption while setting goals for participating in other future competitions.
Abdullah Abdul Ali Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, affirmed that the Foundation welcomed the idea of the race. The Foundation has strongly supported the race by involving its members in the three races because sport and keenness to practice it is among the most important reasons for maintaining health.
Al Humaidan praised the event, explaining that it witnessed a competition between the international champions from sister countries. He also valued the distinguished role played by the UAE Triathlon Association in the field of spreading the game in the country, praising the great efforts made by those responsible for the association and its initiatives that characterized by sustainability.
Al Humaidan indicated that this step is expected to be a milestone in the process of forming Triathlon teams in the sports clubs of the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, and the Al Dhafra region, this would contribute to consolidating the successes of the people of determination in the various international and local sporting events.
Al Marazeeq, Director of Sports Clubs Department at the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, welcomed the idea of forming Triathlon sports teams in the institution, as well as participating with the association in all its activities and publishing the game among the categories of people of determination, to open a new opportunity for the Knights of Will to practice a prominent Olympic sport.
Al Marzaiq confirmed that the race achieved a great success. It witnessed competitions that attracted the viewers and caretakers of the event, which encourages the organization of similar races that put athletes from a group of people of determination from different categories in full readiness.
